It’s finally here! The Swagtron T1 is the first UL 2272 certified Hoverboard on the market. It is the first of two brand new hoverboard models by Swagway, the company that brought you the Swagway X1. Because of the lack of UL safety and certifications, a bunch of brick and mortar retailers have stopped selling hoverboards. That is because of the widespread problems with certain battery packs causing fires. We covered the hoverboard fires in an article that outlines exactly what is happening there. Make sure to check it out.
Despite a lot of hoverboards having been made with quality components, and the battery packs meeting the certifications, the situation is still unclear because of the sheer amount of hoverboards coming from China with sub-par components.
You can still get a hoverboard online, and if you follow our guide, you’ll have UL certified components. But, you probably won’t find hoverboards in shops any time soon. Or, at least until the UL releases a new statement regarding the self balancing scooters.
