When we say “regular”, we mean 6.5 inch wheel hoverboards that do the basic stuff, and whose design is similar to the hoverboards (or hooverboards as some people still spell it) that you’ve seen in the past. Prices for these hoverboards have been steadily declining, making hoverboards a super affordable gadget. Especially this year!

A regular hoverboard with 6.5″ wheels is now extremely cheap, with NHT offering what is one of the lowest prices we’ve ever seen.
The NHT 6.5″ inch Aurora Hoverboard is a good hoverboard, that goes beyond the simple barebones hoverboards from China that are now everywhere.
It features LEDs on the wheels as well as on the wheel arches, it handles well and charges fast.
Additionally, this hoverboard comes with Bluetooth speakers, making it a remarkably good deal (usually hoverboards with bluetooth speakers retail for $50-100 more than regular ones).

There are now more options than ever when choosing a hoverboard for your kids: not only a lot more companies are focusing on children, but well-known incumbents like Swagtron, are now dedicating entire product lines to the little ones.
One of the best recent developments with Swagtron in particular, is their new lithium-free battery packs: after the hoverboard fire fiasco of yesteryear, this is very welcome news. These hoverboards have been UL2272-certified anyway, but just knowing that the battery pack doesn’t contain the unstable metal can really help parents feel safer.

We love off-road hoverboards: they are great for adults, with their more powerful motors (350W instead of 250W), and bigger wheels (8.5″).
More power and bigger wheels means that you can ride your hoverboard on grass and gravel seamlessly, but frankly, it’s very convenient to be able to ride over cracks in the pavement without fearing to be jettisoned from your board.
The TOMOLOO is a off-road hoverboard with the usual rugged design. It’s got a top speed of 9.3mph and a range of around 10 miles.

Best Self Balancing Scooters Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals
Black Friday isn’t far off now, so we’re going to list the best prices from ONLY companies that are based in the US, so that you can be sure your order is shipped fast!
As always, our top recommendation is for 10-inch wheel scooters but, in the past few weeks, we’ve seen a couple of 8-inch wheel boards crop up.
8 inches seems to be a good compromise between ride comfort and design, and boy do these new balance wheels look good!
Bear in mind that, although larger, these 8-inch wheels are NOT inflatable like a the 10-inch ones found on, say, the BenchTech. Therefore, while the ride will be more comfortable than that of a 6.5-inch wheel model, it will still be inferior to the BenchTech’s.
The first design we’re looking at is a sort of 8 inch wheels version of the old 6.5-inch wheel Swagway but featuring the “X” design.
WITECH 8-inch Wheel Smart Balance Wheel
Quite a simple design, decent specs, and we like it a lot. It comes equipped with Bluetooth Speakers and LED lights on the wheel arches.
It’s currently discounted at 30% off, and it’s a great deal for a 8-inch wheel scooter.
The second new 8-inch wheel design that we’ve seen takes inspiration from what we rated as the best designed hoverboard.
TD Design 2 Wheel Self Balancing Electric Scooter
The TD Design looks great! It’s an 8-inch wheels version of the Wonfast, and it’s usable even on gravel and grass, while the integrated bluetooth speakers can stream your favorite tunes from your phone. It’s a fairly new design and at a really good value-for-money price.
